TREE OF LIFE
According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, the tree of
knowledge, connecting heaven and the underworld, and the
tree of life, connecting all forms of creation, are both
forms of the world tree or cosmic tree. According to
some
religions and philosophies, are the same tree. The concept of a tree of life as a many-branched tree illustrating the idea that all life on earth is related has been used in science, religion, philosophy, mythology and heraldry. |

CINQUE PORTS EMBLEM
The Confederation of Cinque Ports is a historic series of coastal towns in Kent and Sussex, at the eastern end of the English Channel where the crossing to the continent is narrowest. It was originally formed for military and trade purposes, but is now entirely ceremonial. The name is Norman French for "five ports" – the five being Hastings, New Romney, Hythe, Dover, and Sandwich. They are supported by the two ancient towns of Rye and Winchelsea. The emblem is popular in both civic and personal coats of arms. |
